I'm Guessing This Has Almost Become A Lost Art

This is just an interesting video showing how a wagon wheel is made.

Starting with a hub, the spokes mortised and tenon jointed to the spokes.

The spokes cut to length and a dowel cut onto the end of them.

Interesting how they had to keep cutting the rim but joints with a hand saw to shorten the circumfrence untir they got the perfect length.

I believe the next step is to weld a metal rim band together just the right length.

Then heat it so it expands. put it over the wood rim and let it cool to a real tight fit.
