This is a very strong joint and it looks great.

The reason most beginning woodworkers shy away from it is because it looks complicated to cut. But once you make one ef these jigs the joint becomes dead easy to cut and finger joints will become one of your favorites.

I'd suggest making several jigs for different finger widths. Narrow ones for small boxes and wide ones for big boxes.
