It's The Prep Around The Window Opening That Is The Key

Windows are pretty easy to install, but not everyone thinks about the proper way to prep the opening before you nail or screw the window in place.

This video gives you the step by step instructions on how to install a window using today's modern materials.

In the video this window top is protected by tho roof overhang. A window with no such protection at top requires a drip edge flashing on top of the window. This flashing should extend one inch past the sides of the window. Then you need a strip of the waterproof stick on membrane on the wall laping the flange of the flashing on the wall and going up behind the house wrap. Then the house wrap get taped down as shown in the video.
